For children, I focus on the comprehension of pitch and note reading. If the child has a song that he or she wants to sing, then we will pursue it if it is vocally fitting. If not, I have a variety we can choose from. We also will pursue the fundamentals of music theory in our lessons as well. I base my teaching methods on the student I am teaching. For students that are children at a beginner level, I typically begin with the essential elements of creating vocal foundation which I draw from many sources. Once we have set a good foundation, we tend to begin working on repertoire that is appropriate for the level at which they are singing, using those songs as learning opportunities. For adults, I begin by asking about the goals of the individual student and I then formulate a strategy to help the student reach their specific singing goals. Read More

I've taught in New York City, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma since 2009. In New York City, I teach theatre technique at a musical theatre school. In Los Angeles, I teach Alba Technique at an Actor's Workshop. In Oklahoma, working with children, I've taught ages 6-adult, directing musical and theatrical productions like Grease, Les Miserables, Much Ado About Nothing, and The War of the Worlds.
