I take  a physiological approach to singing...after all it is a physical endeavor.  The voice or larynx, despite all it complexities, is just another set of muscles that can be trained to reach its fullest potential.  The method I teach, “The Franco/Italian Bel Canto Method” has been taught in Europe for more than 200 years and has produced the world’s greatest classical singers.  Now, having said that let me assure you that studying this method doesn’t mean you have to become a classical singer.  The techniques used are designed to strengthen and improve the quality of the human voice and can be applied to any genre whether your goal is “Broadway,” “American Idol” or you simply want to improve your voice for your own personal satisfaction.  The method also addresses all things associated with singing, such as breathing, posture and stage presence. My teaching style is more hands on approach, I have a lot of opportunities for my students to perform. I believe that actually playing the instrument will make them better players and performers. Even when a student sign up for private lessons, I have opportunities for them to perform in groups. I think that students learn better when they have the chance to perform in a group. I also hold master classes for the students to learn from. Read More

I focus on indvidualizing the lesson to the student. Every student has different goals, dreams, and personalities. I typically use the Faber Books for piano, Hal Leonard for guitar and ukulele, and I work in sight-reading with my voice students. I also work in music theory when appropriate, and enjoy explaining the "why" behind how music works. I'm also a singer-songwriter and have tunes on Spotify Apple Music. I write and produce my own songs and have had my compositions performed frequently. Read More

I believe we are most productive when we keep a positive mindset.  I try to let encouragement be the foundation of my teaching.  I truly want you to reach your highest singing potential, which will happen with consistent practice. Each lesson will consist of vocal exercises which should be recorded so that the student can practice with it throughout the week.  And then we will work together to choose songs that will help reinforce your new, healthy technique. I currently use Piano Adventures Lesson and Theory books for beginner students. I have also used the Alfred series and really like the Finger Power series, too. Fundamentals of music theory is extremely important for new students of any age. I ask students to use the Music Tutor App to help them learn note names for the treble and bass clefs, and they learn by playing a fun game. We sometimes have competitions with siblings to see who can get the highest score! Read More

My teaching experience dates back to the early 1990's when I taught as an Adjunct Voice Instructor at Frank Phillips College in Borger, TX. I found this to be a fulfilling and rewarding experience as I taught freshman and sophomore voice students the fundamentals of proper vocal production through the learning of appropriate repertoire. There were student voice recitals at the end of the semester. One of my college students has credited me with inspiring her to pursue a career in music ministry. Read More

My process for working with new voice students begins with an initial intake form, where I learn about your musical background, goals, and any specific areas youd like to improve. Following this, we schedule a first Discovery Lesson. This initial lesson allows us to get to know each other, assess your current abilities, and establish a baseline. Based on this assessment, I create a personalized lesson plan tailored to your unique needs and aspirations. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
