My teaching experience dates back about 20 years. Since then, I’ve taught many levels and many instruments. I’ve taught students ranging from 18 months to 81 years old. I’ve taught many styles;including jazz, pop, and rock. I’ve had students to make videos and win several competitions. My favorite genre to teach is classical. With classical, you can pull all of the other genres out of it. When you learn classical first, everything else seems to fall into place. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice

For beginning piano students I typically start with Faber's piano adventure series--I typically have students work through the lesson, performance, and theory books while providing them with additional repertoire on the side (pop, disney, classical pieces etc.) For voice students, I typically spend about a third of the lesson working on technique--proper breathing, posture, extending range, working on tone quality etc. Then the rest of the lesson is spent working on solo song repertoire. I like to make sure that my students are actually learning the exercises rather than just going through the motions. If I find them making mistakes I stop them and ask them to explain to me what they are supposed to be doing. This helps me pinpoint whether they need further teaching or just more practice. I am very careful to try to catch and correct bad habits early before they become ingrained. Read More

I use different methods depending of the students' age and ability. Singers should always learn to breathe correctly and vocalize depending on their range. I could also use the Vaccai method for opera aspiring singers. For basic piano guitar, chords and harmonizing for accompaniment. For the recorder to learn to read music and play what's written. I also can teach in Spanish and English. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student gain confidence in their voice. Singing can be very scary especially at first, but it is my passion to be a cheerleader of the singer. Singing is mostly a mental game, and my passion is to fight that one first. One can have all the technique in the world, but if they don't have confidence, musicality is thrown out the window. So, I primarily focus on giving the student a safe place to make mistakes grow and learn and feel comfortable to explore. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
