I have loved music from a very early age and I have been fortunate to study a variety of instruments and musical styles. I grew up studying the drums, piano, guitar, voice, and songwriting. I have been in a cover bands, original bands, jazz bands, choirs, a country band, a steel drum band, marching band, opera, a pop orchestra, a hip hop ensemble, and musical theatre productions. I offer classes for adults and children according to the Seth Riggs and Brett Manning techniques, with the help of which the vocal apparatus and natural resonators are developed to the maximum. We study the theory for the vocalist, modern styles. We will practice a sense of rhythm, improvisation, work with a microphone. I work with picking, range, smooth transitions of registers, filling voice, vibration. I show a variety of vocal sounds and manners, helping to personalize the singing style. Read More

When someone wants to learn how to play an instrument well enough to play in a band or orchestra, I usually consider two needs - playing music and interpreting written music. Teaching voice is something that I believe requires highly personalized lesson plans, and so there are books for which to acquire basic theory, note-reading, and sight-singing, but usually, lessons must be repertoire based, and conceptual. Students usually have an idea of certain songs they would like to learn, and I believe it is very important to enable them to sing what they like to sing. However, I will also suggest repertoire that they are unfamiliar with, or initially uncomfortable with to broaden their musical knowledge and appreciation, and also to address certain skill sets. I had a wonderful opportunity to start teaching piano at the same place that I took piano throughout high school KD Music Arts, about 8 years ago. Since then, Ive taught piano and voice to students a variety of ageskids and adults! I love arranging my younger students favorite songs that they hear on the radio so they can play them on the piano, sometimes even playing rhythm video games on my Nintendo 3DS to brush up on their music theory skills :) I want my students to finish a lesson feeling like the possibilities that they have with music are endless.
