I have an arsenal of exercises and tools that I apply as needed for each student, and generally give each student an overview with lots of reinforcement in subsequent lessons at my concepts of technique. Generally each lesson involves vocalese - scales, triads, increasing in difficulty as appropriate and based on individual areas of need, followed by work on the repertoire. Students are also taught simple vocal exercises from basic fundamental books, as well as stretching and breathing exercises.I use a variety of music books,depending on the level of the student. Therefore, it is important that I develop a specific teaching plan for each student. I encourage setting goals for each student to track progress and celebrate every accomplishment, making students eager to learn more.
