For beginning students who are children, I typically start with what they feel most comfortable and provide them with lots of encouragement. I also teach them basics to Music Theory, such as note names and how to read music. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce more advanced repertoire as they gain confidence in their ability.
