The bottom line is that although it takes years to develop a strong, skillful and sensitive singer, it should not take years for a singer with good tutelage and a willingness to work hard, to sing competently. I like to start my lessons from the very beginning which is tuning the instrument, so that the instrument sounds good. To me music is about 10% technicality and 90% feeling.
