I received my Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education in 2020, but have been performing since I was 11 years old. I am now a choir director in the Downriver area. I have experience with all populations and ages, allowing me to share the gift of music with anyone and everyone! I taught elementary school for a full year and now work with middle school aged students. I keep it light and simple. In lessons, I am a listener as well as a teacher. I use the students own words to work through music. I encourage students to focus on what things feel like, and describe them, so that we can focus on what is working well! I also am a strong believer in technique. All of my vocal students will be working on breathing technique. When you are a vocalist, your body is your instrument, and you must know how to produce sound correctly and healthily in order to be as successful as possible. As for pianists, my teaching ability is for beginner and intermediate students only. I truly believe that theory is a very important aspect of piano playing, and I will probably begin with a book that has a theory aspect to match the playing assignments, as I did with my past piano students. I began teaching 17 years ago while completing my Master of Arts degree in Voice Performance.I have passion for teaching students of all ages the fundamentals of singing. These include breathing, posture, and mouth position.These fundamentals stand students in good stead to sing whatever style they choose for the rest of their lives.
