Instruments: Voice
I have been taking voice lessons myself since the age of 15 and have been teaching since 17 when I was involved in a unique experience being mentored by my middle and high school choir directors as I knew I would be going on in Music Education as a college student. After graduating from my Bachelors program I began teaching both private voice and elementary-high school vocal and general music. Currently I have been teaching for 18 years as a private voice teacher. Read More

I am an engaging, motivated, and patient instructor who is passionate about helping others develop a healthy vocal technique and nurture their own love of music and singing. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and worked for 10 years as a business consultant.Never having been able to get away from music, I finally gave in to my passion for singing and went back to school to pursue a second bachelor's degree. As a voice teacher, I try to be as warm and welcoming as I possibly can. I understand that singing is a very exposing form of music-making and one of the barriers holding us back from our full potential as singers is confidence in our ability to sing. I constantly encourage my students to try new things to help develop strong technique and cheering them on as they explore new ideas and new heights with their voice. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Voice
I would first establish the level of my student and figure out which direction suits them best to achieve there own personal goals. Someone first starting off , We would first concentrate on finger strength. Excercises that are fun but also help build the neccasary tools. Basic chords , scales , and basic strumming is a good example of where i would start a guitar student. Beginners of voice lessons we would be concentrating on breathing excercises and scales at first. Read More

Let start from the ground up! With a beginner guitarist or bassist I want to both keep them excited about learning and teach the the fundamental necessary structure required to develop into a one of a kind musician. I use finger training and strengthening techniques to get the students physical ability in tip top shape, along with innovative chord ideas and mental understanding techniques. Most importantly by the end of every lesson even the first one I leave my students with a cool riff to play to show them that what they are learning is truly working, I believe this will keep students engaged in the learning and keep them working harder for the next lesson. Instruments: Piano Voice
It is important for both me and my student to have long-term and short-term goals. Long-term goals may have to do with technique--for voice, examples may be releasing tension or singing with proper breath support. Short term goals are more linked to repertoire and can be technical or musical. An example on the piano may be playing through a piece with a particular metronome marking. I have each of my students use a practice log so both the student and I can keep track of short-term goals. Read More
