Let start from the ground up! With a beginner guitarist or bassist I want to both keep them excited about learning and teach the the fundamental necessary structure required to develop into a one of a kind musician. I use finger training and strengthening techniques to get the students physical ability in tip top shape, along with innovative chord ideas and mental understanding techniques. Most importantly by the end of every lesson even the first one I leave my students with a cool riff to play to show them that what they are learning is truly working, I believe this will keep students engaged in the learning and keep them working harder for the next lesson. For Voice I cater my teaching to the student's goals and aspirations. The first 10-15 minutes of a lessons are spent doing vocal warmups and sightsinging exercises. The remaining time is spent working on repertoire that the student and myself choose together. For Piano I work out of the Faber Piano Adventure Books. These can easily be purchased on amazon after the first lesson. For continual progress, it's imperative that the student has a piano or keyboard at home to practice on. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding that seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. It is really important that each student progress individually and gradually from their own prospective. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments help a fuel a studner desire to progress and makes students eager to learn. I teach a breath based technique with a focus on relaxation. I want to help each individual find their true instrument. I like to use the 24 Italian Songs and Arias (Italian Art Songs) book as a basis for learning breath technique, legato, use of vowels and musicality, as well as being exposed to a foreign language. One of my main goals as a teacher is to get to know my student, how they best learn, and what it is they love about music. My own love for music and particular bands/genres is what gave me the drive to keep practicing, and I bring this same approach to each of my lessons. Nothing makes me more happy than to see one of my students getting excited about something they are playing--and because of this, I structure my lessons to maximize the aspects of music each student enjoys, while making sure to incorporate fundamental aspects of technique and music theory regardless of the particular music we are studying. I began teaching lessons in college, but grew my studio while I was preparing for grad school auditions from 2010-2012. Most of my students at that time were beginner piano lessons and I love to teach young children. I also greatly enjoy teaching children with autism. I have had success in combining my music education and music therapy skills to help students accomplish musical goals while also addressing behavioral goals such as increasing verbal or nonverbal communication.
