As students progress in their piano studies, I begin introducing solo repertoire that will support the concepts being learned in the book series. I will also assign small writing projects from time to time, to sharpen students' compositional and music reading skills. For beginning piano students who are children, I usually start with Faber and Faber methods and performance books. I supplement with other solo materials as the student progresses. For beginning adult piano students, I use Alfred's Adult PIano Method. For the more advanced students, music is typically chosen from a variety of sources, so that the student is playing music that is challenging and enjoyable.
