I was teaching children age from 8-14 at Municipal Higher Education Establishment of Choreographic Arts and also give private vocal lessons to students from age 25-68. I love working with beginners because they are open for new experience and ready to receive information. In 2004 Icompleted my bachelor's degree in vocal performance with a concentration in opera from Shenandoah University (so much more engaged, excited, and subsequently successful than I was in my first college experience!). While taking a course about the anatomy and physiology of singing, I found a perfect marriage of my analytical background/skills and my passion for developing people. If a student isn't having fun learning the instrument then I am doing something wrong! Learning should be fun and a joy not a chore. I try to encourage the students to practice without being told to do so. With that comes a joy of doing it on your own and for themselves not for anyone else. I began teaching my sophomore year of college teaching a beginner class aimed at teaching 5-8 year olds the foundations of music in a fun and interesting way. Soon after, I started teaching private piano and voice lessons to students age 8-18 as well as directing performance program shows. I have found that letting students pick their own material to work on helps keep them motivated and interested. I teach both classical reading and modern music theory to ensure a well rounded approach. I use the book series by Faber to cover classical reading. I believe Faber books do an excellent job at covering all areas of music. I make sure to keep tabs on my students' practicing as I believe in consistency. The student will be given work that is reasonable to practice once a day for at least 10-20 minutes a day. Read More

I also music directed a male-voiced a cappella group, conducted a chamber choir, and music directed and accompanied several musical theater productions. Each of these, to different degrees, requires a one-on-one approach, so no matter what the setting, I am always working personally with the student to determine what it is they want to achieve and help them to get there. Hello! I'm a vocal instructor with 10+ years of experience at the college level, but have taught all voice types and a large range of ages! I enjoy teaching all types of repertoire and have expertise in classical literature and musical theater. I began my studies as a musical theater major and then transitioned into classical music, specifically as a mezzo-soprano opera singer!
