I love to teach my students the basic tools of what it takes to be a professional musician, whether or not they are into music as a hobby or as a serious profession. I currently play drums for the hit Broadway musical (non-union version) of Rock of Ages and when I'm not on the road; I'm teaching. I’m an avid columnist for Modern Drummer Magazine and I sing/play guitar for one of Chicago's best Nirvana tributes called Smells Like Nirvana. Read More

I began my performance career in Ukraine, when I joined a touring musical group called Neposedi. Since I had immigrated to the United States, I have joined several bands and ensembles at churches and performed at private conferences and conventions. This past spring, I ranked third place in the NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) vocal competition. In the fall of 2021, I received the Muccianti Award from Casa Italia Chicago, In the Winter of 2021, I received the first place runner up Judges Award from Casa Italia as well. Read More

I started teaching towards the end of high school and continued in college and beyond! I found it beneficial to be teaching students while still being a student myself. Having great teachers in my life has shaped my own approach to teaching. I discovered that when I was able to study what I was truly excited about, my capacity to learn and improve my craft increased exponentially! I started teaching private voice lessons in 1984 during my junior year at Oberlin. While at Yale, I was awarded a teaching assistantship (1986-88). Since then I have maintained a private studio of voice students in Chicago. Ive had experience both with students who love classical music to those who sing musical theater, spirituals, choral singers, etc. I love teaching and nothing is more gratifying than hearing a students progress.
