Working for a local drum teacher in 2005, I started teaching private music lessons in students' homes. From there, I took up residence at a local music store where I taught guitar, ukulele, bass, harmonica, songwriting, and music theory for the next fifteen years. During the pandemic, I added teaching virtually to my repertoire and have fallen in love with it. Personally, I started playing music because I loved exploring and learning more about the music I I was already listening to--and I desperately wanted to learn how I could create my own sounds. The first two things that I teach in my studio is posture and breathing. I analyze the posture of the singer and find several yoga postures that can help the student to relax some tension and to be more comfortable. I help students to be more aware of how the breath works in their bodies by using several repeating breath exercises and yoga posture. My vocal technique is based on YogaVoice, meaning that I used Yoga principles combined with Vocal Technique exeecises to sing more organic and to achieve an authentic relaxed voice. Read More

I tailor to the desire/ ability level of each student accordingly. Depending on how hard a student is willing to work, I conduct the lessons in an appropriate matter. I learn what the student loves about music and try to work from there so that the experience is meaningful, advantageous, and fun. Sharing music with others is incredibly important to me as a person. My teaching experience has brought me students who have sung in many different arenas of life, ranging from National TV syndicates like America's Got Talent and Olympics Official commercials to simple, back-to-basics instruction for the layman who loves to sing and just wants to know how to do it better. The same year, I embraced the role of a 'Witch' in MSM's compelling production of "Dido and Aenas" by Henry Purcell. Looking ahead to the spring of 2024, I eagerly anticipate my role as the enchanting 'Fairy' in Jules Massenet's "Cendrillon," a prestigious MSM production.
