I'm a passionate instructor that focuses on each individual's goals needed to further their love for music or to be audition ready at all times. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Music performance, emphasis in voice and have continued my career with music. I believe my students will learn at their highest potential by personalizing each lesson around what they need. For example: if a student is interested in auditioning for College or specific ensembles or groups, I will incorporate the audition requirements into the lesson so they feel adequately prepared when they walk into their audition. I began teaching guitar lessons informally in college. I learned then that I had a knack for helping people understand concepts and techniques on the guitar. I have had more regular students since my early twenties, from young children to senior citizens. I have taught singers who simply wanted to be able to strum chords; folk and blues fingerpickers; and the occasional lead guitarist in rock, pop or blues styles. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students get really excited about reaching their goals. I consistently encourage students by giving them positive feedback about the progress they are making. I also help them push themselves to become better singers by being an inspiration and a mentor for them throughout their journey. I do feel that music is a journey, not a destination. I inspire my students to develop an appreciation for music that lasts their entire lives, and so my instruction is tailored to the individual no matter where they are on their journey. Read More

I am very goal-oriented in my teaching because it provides not only motivation but proof for my students. In that vain, it's important for me to understand why a student is taking lessons so that we can effectively work together to progress. Wether the goal is to familiarize a young student with note reading and musical ideas, to help a musical hobbyist learn their favorite hits, or to train technique for refined classical music performance - I take a tailored approach to each student's instruction. I have been teaching music ever since I began to develop a formal education myself. I began by teaching anyone and everyone I could as early as my first year of college. I quickly figured out that anyone could really learn this stuff. I also realized that most people wanted to learn at some point, just never got around to it or stopped believing they could. It has always been my mission to reverse this kind of thinking for those who want it, and help people understand it is never too late to learn. Read More
