My style is open minded. I first try to know the students' goals and prepare a course of action accordingly. Then I try to know how much the students already knows and how much talent they have. That allows me to determine how fast I may go with them or how much I must drill and develop a particular skill before going on. Sometimes if I assess the student is jammed or stressed I deem it necessary to digress a bit into music history , philosophy and other fields related to music that work as a refreshing background and point of rebound to the skill part of the lesson while increase the scholarly knowledge of the student. I am an honest and reliable music professional who loves classical music, folk songs, and musical theater. I participated in a youth musical theater company for nine years in my youth. I performed with a traveling show choir for five years at dozens of public festivals and events and we even performed at Disney! I advanced into several All State honor choirs throughout grade school. I am a member of multiple professional organizations as I believe in constant learning and knowledge so I can provide the best teaching experience possible. Read More

I encourage all my students to learn the basic rudiments of music including music theory, sight-reading and playing ‘by ear’. I recommend Mel Bay’s “Children’s Guitar Method” and Hal Leonard’s “Guitar Method Book 1” for school age children. However, many of my students have decided to concentrate on learning basic theory involving chords and scales to develop ability to play ‘by ear’. When working with voice students I focus on basic theory, breath control, and vocal scales to develop student’s ability to discern musical intervals. Read More

I am a very patient and understanding person teaching all ages, learning styles/abilities and cultures. What the students love is crucial in order to capture that magic to incorporate into the weekly lesson plans. I also specialize in have following extra areas: Special needs (creative music art), "Princess/Pirate Music" (youngsters), Coach Music as a natural form of alleviating some social emotional problems for some students...in other words making daily stresses seem not so big after a refreshing music class for most, lol! I started to teach group music class and private lesson when I was in undergraduate. I always try to bring everything I learned from performance, music education, observing other music teacher and my own experience to every music lesson I gave. Practicing consistently is the most important way to make the lesson experience more pleasant and worthwhile. Other than introducing the music to my students, I also encourage them to perform, because sharing music is also part of the learning process. Read More

My teaching experience has all been one-on-one coachings in different styles such as Musical Theater, opera, oratorio and pop styles. I can really hear the potential in each voice and have been through every stage that a singer can possibly imagine. I started off as someone who had absolutely no sense of pitch with less than an octave of usable range and over the past three years have now gotten to the point of riffing, chest-mixing in the fifth octave, whistle tones... etc. Read More

The number 1 key to a great lesson is to ensure the student is comfortable within the lesson and that they are having fun. For Vocal lessons in young beginner students, I typically walk through a few fun silly warm-ups, and breath exercises to get their voice moving free, then allow the student to sing "happy birthday" or another short song to determine pitch range. I follow-up with the "movable Do" concept ("fixed Do" for more advanced), to recognizable songs to teach pitch recognition, diction, and vowel sound in preparation for solo repertiore. Read More
