My voice students ranged from young beginning singers just learning the basics of singing to seniors in undergrad preparing large roles. As for my experience, I have been playing guitar for 15 years, teaching for 5 years, and active in bands for 7 years. I was privileged to receive private guitar lessons myself for a decade. Also, I have a solid amount of experience with audio recording, mixing, and microphone techniques for amplifying instruments. I do not believe in a 'monkey see monkey do' style where I simply show the student and have them repeat the concept or technique, but rather a discovery learning approach where I provide the needed support for the student to learn and apply the concepts. I generally start with a Q & A to get a feel for the artist and what their true intent is, then I go for the kill. I need to know the who, what, where, when and why of the music industry in their own words. The how part is what we will work on together to achieve the goal. Music is my passion and I love sharing that with others! I am a recent graduate of Miami University with a Bachelor's of Music in Vocal Music Education with a minor in musical theatre. I've had a wide array of experiences in both the education and the performing world. On stage, I studied in Graz, Austria with the American Institute of Musical Studies performing German lieder in their masterclasses and studio recitals as well as showtunes in their "Broadway in Love: AIMS in Graz!" concerts.
