My teaching began in the late 1990's as professional musician in the United States Marine Corps teaching new Marine Musicians how to double & triple tongue and play minor scales as well as Greek Modes.I enjoyed the challenge of teaching someone a skill or technique. My reward is watching the lightbulb come on and them master the new skill. I have played professionally for over 15 years and taught flautists during this time. Read More

My teaching style feels relaxed but I work hard to keep students in their least restrictive environment. We dont want the student to be too challenged or bored. For this reason I am flexible with the content we work on and the order in which we complete different parts of the lesson. I give a lot of choice to students, maybe one day they want to start with working on some improvisation and want to work on their assigned pieces the 2nd half of the lesson. Read More

I have a passion for music. I started on the piano when I was seven years old and I've never looked back. After spending years in grade school, junior high and high school learning and performing in the band program on trumpet and euphonium, I moved on to play euphonium in The Most Exciting Band in the Land, the Ohio University Marching 110! In the Marching 110 I played in front of thousands of people at Ohio University's Peden Stadium and at professional football games in Cincinnati and Buffalo. Read More

My experience with teaching started after my departure from Full Sail University. I enrolled there for online class to learn Audio Engineering and Music Business. As I was learning, I was also teaching the same information to fellow artist and friends that I was working with at the time. Some had the same knowledge as I did and I re-paraphrased information, to those that did not I educates to enhance, enlighten and advance. Read More

During my graduate work I taught voice lessons both through the department of music and through the community music program ACMS. My voice students ranged from young beginning singers just learning the basics of singing to seniors in undergrad preparing large roles. My main philosophy in teaching is to find a students real voice and to develop a healthy and natural sound. Also I think it is very important to make every lesson an enjoyable experience. Read More

At the beginng of the first lesson I like to ask my student about their musical experience, interest and if they have any over arching goals, and after that I warm them up and teach them part of a simple song either from a popular musical or (for my younger students) Disney song in order to hear the maturity, tonality, and range they are starting with. If my students do not have a particular song or songs picked out then I assign songs, trying to adhere to the student's interest, during the second lesson. Read More

Music fundamentals are most important in the beginning stages. When teaching kids I really focus on posture, breath, building repertoire, and technique. For adults, I start by finding out if they are adult beginner, or adult intermediate, depending on the knowledge of singing and technique. My instruction is really based on the students interest in repertoireand the rate at which they learn. Read More
