When you want to learn how to become a better singer, you need voice lessons. The instructors in Musika's network are trained in every genre and style, including Classical, Country, and R&B. We can help you prepare for national auditions or local competitions. You will receive customized lesson plans based on your musical goals and previous experience. As part of your lessons, you will learn how to protect and project your voice. You'll learn how to interpret songs, add emotion, and read music. Before you audition or perform, we'll teach you how to manage stage fright. In addition to these topics, learn: how to enjoy and express yourself with singing, breath control techniques, vocal cord protection, voice projection techniques, vocal volume improvement, how to read music, genre and style interpretation, and how to add emotion to songs, lyrics, and phrases.
In order to make the most of singing lessons, it is important that students feel comfortable and not self-conscious. As such, the best environment for learning is the home, as it is a familiar environment in which they can feel more confident. If students are comfortable and relaxed, they can focus and concentrate on the lessons more. Lesson content is the same whether at home or in the studio, but singing in an unfamiliar environment can be daunting and create nervousness for students. Taking lessons from home is also the most convenient way to learn, as it negates having to travel to and from the lesson.
A healthy voice requires a healthy body. Start by exercising every day. Swimming, running, and playing sports improve your body, lungs, and heart health and lead to a healthy voice. Then eat a nutritious diet. Load up on vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Limit sugar, caffeine, and alcohol. You'll also want to stop smoking because it damages your voice. Rest is also important. Make time to get enough sleep every night, and try to reduce stress. Rest your voice too by avoiding yelling, screaming, or cheering. As you care for your body, you also care for your voice and keep it strong and healthy.
Taking voice lessons is one way your child can prepare for a reality singing show competition or a career as a vocal performer. Prematurely starting voice lesson could cause vocal damage or strain, though. We recommend children wait until they are 11 or 12 years old. At that time, a child is undergoing puberty, and his or her vocal cords are mature enough to handle the rigorous training involved in voice lessons. Waiting is difficult for kids, but the benefits include vocal protection. Your child is more likely to succeed at auditions and performances when he or she waits until puberty for formal vocal training.
Musika students who take adult voice lessons study many different genres of music. We have instructors in our network who specialize in Pop, Country, Classical, Gospel, Musical Theater, Jazz, and more. Do you want to audition for The Voice, American Idol or X-Factor? We've successfully helped contestants prepare for these contest auditions. Do you want to win a spot on Broadway or sing better at church? Our instructors provide in-studio or in-home lessons that help you hone your musical skill, choose songs that fit your voice, and practice every day. Reach for the stars and achieve your musical goals with adult voice lessons in any genre.

Unbelievably Awesome. My daughter is a beginner and has some special needs. Justin is more than patient and helpful while being completely thorough and pushing her (in a good way) to try harder. He is encouraging and teaches effectively. I am very pleased. More important, so is my daughter. Thank you Musika! So grateful we found your service and connected with Justin. We highly recommend him.

My 4-year-old has had several lessons with Martina now, and he has learned a lot. Obviously, it is challenging to teach such a young child, and he has learned quite a lot in a short time, and is very excited to learn about violin and for his lessons. I think Martina is doing an excellent job, is quite patient, and is teaching him in such a way that he can really remember his new skills from week to week. We look forward to many more lessons with Ms. Martina!

My daughter began learning sax in her school band, but she didn't begin PLAYING sax until she started lessons with Debra. From scales and exercises to actual pieces, Debra coached my daughter with real insight, sensitivity, and patience. Her knowledge of the instrument and feeling for music - along with her easy-going,"kid friendly" personality - make Debra the ideal teacher and musical mentor.

Caitlyn is friendly, helpful and still holds my high-school aged daughter accountable for practicing. She also makes sure the music technique is mastered correctly during the lessons - they work hard and still have a good time together. I can highly recommend her as a flute teacher. My daughter is very happy & grateful to have found Caitlyn as a teacher.

Rebecca has been super with my son! He is 8yrs old and has mild aspergers. He has never played an instrument before but after one lesson with his teacher he could keep a beat on his drums. She is able to keep his attention and really makes it fun! She is flexible and easy going. I highly recommend her for any lessons. Very nice teacher! Thank you Rebecca for your outstanding service!!

Giorgi has made learning cello even more fun. From the sympathetic, "It is hard" to the precise, "Be careful about the curve of the thumb" he has strengthened learning in every lesson, without being overwhelming. He started playing a little duet on only the 3rd lesson or so, which made me feel, even as a beginner, that I'm already starting to make (occasionally screachy) music. He has suggested a variety of drills and practice techniques which have also sped up the process a lot. And he has a good sense of humor and surprising amount of patience.

Rahsaan is an extremely talented player who relates really well with my teenagers. He has them both interested in learning. Given Rahsaan's expertise, it's clear that even though they are beginners now, they can learn from him for a long time to come. He's a real nice laid-back guy and both the boys really enjoy their time with him. I've been very impressed and pleased with the experience.

Laura is a fabulous teacher. She explains concepts to me using concrete examples so that I can understand changes that I need to make to my posture, breathing, phrasing, etc. She makes warm-up exercises fun, and she's got a great sense of humor over all. Her teaching style is collaborative, more egalitarian (she respects what I already know and meets me at my level), tailored to my particular interests and strengths, and I always look forward to our lessons!

“Lynn has taught my daughter guitar for 9 years. She has always managed to keep her engaged and provide an exceptional learning experience. She tailors the lesson specifically to the student’s interests and abilities. She provides many opportunities for students to showcase their talents outside of lessons. We love working with Lynn.” Maureen Young, Dir. of Finance, Aug 2015
