After teaching for 12 years I don't have a fixed method. I have categories of students, from children who are trying to function in a band setting, to children who are trying to develop a musical or compositional talent. I take particular joy in teaching adults who believe it is too late to achieve levels of technical proficiency that would make them proud. My journey from classical music to jazz through pop, swing, rock, soul and folk has taught me how to blend in with any style, and my classical education has given me the necessary toolbox to communicate about advanced theoretical concepts with students who are interested. I started teaching private lessons in high school. I taught guitar, bass, piano, voice, and songwriting lessons at Biryukov Academy of Arts and Music for 5 years for both kids and adult beginners. I have performed, written and music directed a children's theatre tour where I taught children to sing, act, and perform in front of large crowds. My teaching experience dates back to the mid 2000's when I began teaching children's musical theater classes for various organisations, such as Vogue Entertainment, Barking Gecko Theatre Company, The Song Room and Majkidz, in my hometown of Perth, Western Australia. I also began teaching private lessons to 8-16 year olds, focusing mainly on musical theater and classical repertoire.
