My teaching days, start back to when I was in high school. I have been directing the childrens choir at my church since 2009, here I develop lessons for students 5-10, each week to get them performance ready for performances once every 2 months. I have also been a voice instructor for the past year. I love being able to watch my students grow and learn the beautiful art of music. For my piano students, I use different method and technique books in order to help my students learn the basics.  This includes how to properly read their sheet music so that they can pratice their skills by themselves.  I also use repetition and demonstrate different pratice skills so that my students can further advance their piano skills. For students aged 3-6, I ensure to use visual materials. I also try to give the student time at the end of the lesson to improvise, which ensures ending on a positive note.-Students aged 7-13 always a quick Q&A regarding music studies in school if they are participating in the school's music program. They are also given scale exercises to ensure a solid knowledge of the major and minor scales.-Students 14+ are given the opportunity to express particular interests and goals that they are specifically trying to reach. Positive reinforcement is key. I never learned from the mean or the overly strict teachers. In fact those teachers pushed me in the opposite direction of wanting to pursue music professionally. By going at the pace that is comfortable to the student, and praising them at every hurdle they encounter, the progress made can be exponentially greater than if the student is rushed to prepare a piece of music they don't truly care for in the first place. My teaching style is friendly, honest, and positive. I teach students how/what to practice and aid them on their musical journey at whatever starting place they may be. At the first lesson I begin teaching them how to develop an awareness for the concepts/tools we are exploring, so that they can continue growing in their practice at home during the week.
