I began teaching lessons in college, but grew my studio while I was preparing for grad school auditions from 2010-2012. Most of my students at that time were beginner piano lessons and I love to teach young children. I also greatly enjoy teaching children with autism. I have had success in combining my music education and music therapy skills to help students accomplish musical goals while also addressing behavioral goals such as increasing verbal or nonverbal communication. Students will be able to choose repertoire and learn technique through the music they love. Students are encouraged to discuss the music that they are interested in, their goals, and interests. I use my own materials and lesson plans based on my past experiences and education. For beginners, I will generally start with simple songs like Sweet Home Alabama, I Love Rock n Roll, and Heathens. These are all songs that can be played and sung simply and most students have heard them already! As a young teen, I performed on the Tony Grant, Stars of Tomorrow show in Atlantic City, N.J. every summer. I also competed in the Talent America competition, winning first place in the teen vocal division. All through my school years, I actively participated in my church and school choir which I feel helped develop the discipline needed for pitch and rhythm synchronization within a group.
