For beginning students, be they young or seasoned, I start from the very beginning with breathing and the anatomy of the body as it pertains to singing. As my students progress (or depending on their understanding of the basics) I move into more detailed work, such as how to feel and focus the placement of the sound in a locations within the singing mechanism. For adults, or pupils with more advanced understanding, I focus on musicality and how to use the lyrics and to make the song more interesting and grab the audience's attention. Read More

I always figure out where a student is at, and prefer to grow off the student's strengths as opposed to harping on their weaknesses. I have been in lessons before where teachers couldn't get past the smallest details, and these ruined the experience for me, as well as greatly affected what I was able to accomplish in my lessons. The opposite is also true, in that I have had teachers that haven't even informed me of a weakness that I had, and I wasn't able to improve because of it. Read More

I have been singing since I was 6, playing trumpet since I was 10, and I picked up guitar in my early 20's. I am now 49 and have taught voice, guitar, trumpet for over 7 years from my cozy home. I have been part of many musical ensembles (in many genres) in my 30 year career and have session work that's currently located in the Seattle Rock Roll museum. I have performed in varying capacities over 2,000 times in my career, and my emphasis is to help musicians prepare for live performances. Read More
