I believe in providing a well rounded education for you or your child. My approach entails a 50/50 split between doing the hard work necessary to excel and learning to enjoy music. Therefore, their will be and allotment of standard scales, chords, sight-reading and music theory education. However, one must also learn how to use these elements to find there own stylized expression, creative abilities and improvisational voice, which I believe to be necessary if one is to really enjoy music. I have been teaching studnets of all ages and experience levels for 4 years. I previously taught at the School of Rock, before starting my own private studio. I encourage all of my students to get as much performance experience as possible. My students can be seen performing all over Chicago. I have helped several of my students prepare for a role, work on their original music, and record CDs. Read More

While receiving my masters degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Kentucky I became a teacher at a youth arts academy, Academy for Creative Excellence. I never envisioned myself as a voice teacher, but as I grew to know my students and see the impact of the arts on their young lives it has become a true passion of mine.Since discovering my love for teaching voice, I myself have sung more musical theatre as it is the most popular genre I teach. I started teaching private voice lessons during my first year of college in 2012. I enjoy prepping students for auditions as well as teaching proper warmups. One of the techniques that helped me the most at a young age was learning how to support my voice with my breath. Breath makes a huge difference in vocal quality and the correct breathing methods can become second nature after working on breathing exercises. Read More

Regular practice, especially for younger students, is essential as it helps to create a progressive connection to their instrument. I've found that selecting music WITH my student, and not just assigning work that I want them to like, goes a long way in helping students enjoy singing and motivates them to practice and continue to learn. While my students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, my priority above all is to make sure students are having fun in their lessons (otherwise I'm not doing my job!). Read More

I continued teaching private lessons, while also conducting a high school youth choir in Chicagoland after moving to IL. After a few years my family and I moved to the greater Cincinnati area where I currently teach as a high school choral and drama teacher while serving as the theatre manager as well. I strongly encourage my students to learn to communicate with their music; while building strong technique and working on artistic expression, I want each student to be able to use music as a language. I am an experienced, energetic teacher interested in meeting students at their level, learning about their goals and interests, and tailoring a lesson program that will challenge and excite them in the right ways. I have been teaching piano and voice since graduating from Northwestern University, and I've also worked as a music director and consultant on multiple professional productions in Chicago. As a piano teacher, I have successfully taught students just starting out through those at the intermediate to advanced level. Read More
