I currently teach high school students piano performance as well as AP music. I studied at the renowned Hartt School of Music, Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz in Hartford CT where I graduated with my bachelors in music with honors. I start off all beginning students by teaching them the fundamentals of singing. If students have taken lessons in the past, I work on reviewing fundamental concepts with them. When a student first begins lessons, I typically spend more time on helping to build the student's technique than on repertoire, and as the student progresses, I split the lesson more equally between the two components. I believe in motivating students by helping them learn the repertoire to which they are most attracted, though I do also give them repertoire of styles with which they may be less familiar in order to help them solidify their technique. I began studying music at age 10.  By twelve years old I began serious study and practice on the piano.  By 15 I was playing weekly church services on both organ and piano.  I attended both Rutgers College and Berklee School of Music in Boston, where I continued my studies in piano, jazz composition and arranging, voice and performance.
