Each lesson begins with a chat while we gently stretch, breathe and prepare your body to sing. Singers are attached to their instrument and so getting your mind focused and getting comfortable in the singing space allows us to have as productive a lesson as we can. We work on vocalizes and technique next- to properly warm you up and strengthen your instrument. My teaching experience began right after college when I started my voice and piano studio in Ohio. I maintained a private voice and piano studio for several years until moving to the East Coast. I teach every student at their own pace. There is never any pressure and I always acknowledge and praise their efforts and accomplishments. Once I get to know the student and their motivation, inspiration and desires, we build a better understanding of each other. I am very personable, creative and I can always adjust to an individual's needs. Now, at twenty-five, I have had the opportunity to teach people from all walks of life, with ages ranging from 6 to 60!  I encourage students to practice "perfect practice", which means they are as relaxed as possible when practicing (mentally and physically). Once I feel the student has a solid understanding of these fundamentals, I move onto introducing them to repertoire that I think would help in putting these newly learned fundamentals into use as well as allowing them to expand their knowledge on other important factors of singing such as diction, pronunciation, phrasing, keeping a legato line, and possibly language skills depending on the piece. Over time I may even have them bring in pieces they may be interested in and work with them on understanding how they can incorporate these fundamentals and newly learned skills into the music that they love. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop and hone their skills! I am extremely hands on and I listen very intently during my sessions. I have a great "ear" which is my best asset. I encourage each student to progress at his or her own pace. I encourage this by maintaining a stress free environment.
