My teaching style can best be described as flexible. I like to tailor every lesson to each individual student based on their needs and interests. For younger and newer students regardless of age, I like to focus primarily on fundamentals such as developing proper posture, becoming comfortable with the instrument, tuning and producing sound. For students who already have a good grasp of the fundamentals, we will have more of a discussion about their goals and interests, such as any upcoming auditions or performances. Read More

Michael W. is a violinist whose approach to technical growth is built from the Juilliard school of Ivan Galamian and Dorothy DeLay, combined with the Russian school of Mikhail Kopelman. Michael has won numerous awards and performed in many renowned locations including the Mann Center as well as the Kimmel Center. Music has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember! I started playing the electric organ when I was about 7 years old. I couldn't read music yet, but I would listen to my dad play and just copy him. I try to focus the lessons on the individual student. I use faber books as my main method, but also incorporate a lot of sheet music for my students' different repertoires. I have taught many classes on music fundamentals and theory.  I am also very knowledgeable about Alexander technique - a technique used to help those who suffer from performance anxiety. I am also well versed in music therapy and have used it to help people with mental disorders and physical pain achieve some level of relief. Read More

I feel that nothing is more rewarding than seeing that my student has learned something and from that, develops a passion for music. I try to keep each student's progress at their own pace by setting and keeping realistic goals for my students at their lessons.
