If you want to work hard, I will work hard as well. My students know the importance of regular practice in order to build dependable muscle memory in their singing. In March 2014, Luis was one of only three students chosen to perform in a flute master class with virtuoso flute player, Sir James Galway. In 2013, Luis performed alongside his colleagues in Hong Kong, Beijing, and South Korea. In addition, Luis was the first-place winner in the 2013 New Jersey Flute Choir Competition. In 2012 he performed a Duo Flute Concerto with Andrea Rivera as winners of the Nyack College Concerto Competition. In 2016 he was invited to return to Asia for the 2016 Chamberfest Tour as the Artistic Director where he would oversee rehearsals, prepare programs, and perform chamber and solo repertoire in Hong Kong, Seoul, Macau, and Japan. I typically use the Alfred books for young beginning students. In these books, children learn the geography of the keyboard and learn about the contours of musical notation and by the end are using both hands. For adults, as well as intermediate children and up, I prefer the Michael Aaron series for intermediate and beyond. For beginning adults I use the Aaron Musical Primer. I am a native of Long Island, New York, and have been trained in classical voice since I was eight years old and classical violin since I was three years old, working with world renowned artists. My most recent performances include Amy in Little Women with the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival coached by the composer himself, Mark Adamo, and Cunegonde in selections from Candide with Carnegie Mellon University Opera.
