I have been playing guitar since I was 13. I started playing in bands as soon as I could. When I turned 19, I started to pursue my undergrad in classical guitar performance. My major allowed me to delve into many different styles of music such ranging from classical to popular folk music from South America. While doing my undergrad, I did a lot of private teaching on the side where I was introduced to so many other genres of music. Read More

I have a BFA in Jazz Studies from City College- CUNY. I've had the opportunity to play in Broadway shows, clubs, as well as festivals in the US and abroad. These have been with several artists in the Jazz and Latin music world, as well as with my own group. With these experiences I have become well versed in several styles including Jazz, Latin, Rock , and Pop music. In my teaching approach, I enjoy sharing what I've learned out in the world with my students, since I bring a large pallet of music to my lessons. Read More

My early career as a concert musician began in the 1970s. I'm a working musician and musicologist/annotator, published at any given time in approximately 75-100 running technical and cultural publications. In early 2006, I was included in who's who in American Women and who's who in Education in America, and as of 2009, was included in the international who's who in Music. I attended Wittenberg University (sacred music) where I studied conducting and orchestration with John Williams and Ian Polster, New York University for humanities, and the Mannes College of Music (MM classical performance and theory) where I studied with Robert Secrist, Frederic Hand, Charles Kaufman, Julius Levine, Yakov Kreizberg, Leo Edwards and Marie Powers. **Skype/Zoom lessons are most welcomed. ** Read More

I first ask each student to play for me so I can properly gauge the student's ability. From there, I assign practice pieces and songs that work on the techniques that require the most work. I have used this method for years and all of my students have found this to be the easiest and fastest way to improve. The practice pieces I write are written in the genre that the student wishes to practice. Read More

A student will always learn technique and theory on a much deeper level when it is taught in conjunction to music that they like, rather than as a separate academic study. This method maintains a students interest as well. With regards to advanced players, I find that the problem is rarely how to play, but rather what to play, or what NOT to play. This is usually best solved by helping a player to re-examine his or her approach to applying what they already know. Read More

I listen and watch students and learn from them what it is they need, going from wherever they may be with the instrument, to the next step. And then beyond, all at a pace which motivates them while making them confident they have what they need to enjoy their own music. Each student is unique and I tailor what we do to their age, level of experience, musical aspirations and personality. Read More
