I personally think that seeing a student reach a new goal is an important part of my job and it makes it all worth it in the end. I started teaching when I was in high school, I began by teaching young students ranging from 5 years old to teenagers. As I started attending college, my students' age spectrum expanded into adults and even seniors. I work from a whole-body mindfulness perspective on voice. We use our whole body to create and emit sound, not just our lungs and throat. When we work from a whole-body perspective, we are more grounded, we are better able to identify pitch and stay on pitch, our breath flows better, and the act of singing becomes enjoyable and easy.
