Overview:

Hey Prospective Students! My name is Rupali, i am 23 years old and I have a Bachelors in Music from San Francisco State University. I have been teaching piano and many other aspects of music necessary to be a good musician and performer for 4 years now.  I have watched my student's musical abilities grow throughout the years and am very proud of their progress.  I have a passion for music and like to challenge students, but at your own pace. I want to help create the artist in you and for you to enjoy learning weather you are starting with fundamentals or are advanced and want to learn a specific skill. I will fit my teaching methods according to your needs weather your a visual, aural or theoretical learner.  I am very versatile and teach many genres and am proficient in a variety of skills: Skills I teach are: music theory, ear-training, composing/arranging, improvisation, sight-reading, rhythmic/melodic/harmonic dictations, recording and vocals as well. If you have a passion for music and are interested in pursuing piano or voice or any/all of the above skills, i would be a great teacher for you. I can teach any level and any age student. I have taught ages 4 to 50 so far.

EXPERIENCE

I started teaching my Sophomore Year while studying music in college and have loved it ever since.  I enjoy finding out how my teaching methods can fit with one's personality and watching people grow throughout the years.  I have kept students consistently for 2 years and each student is different and unique.  Some of my students are doing certificate programs like ABRSM, while others are singing and playing piano simultaneously.  Some of my students learn by ear and others are sight readers.  I really like to accommodate student's strengths but also work on their weakness as well so that they become well-rounded musicians.  I often try to put myself in the student's shoes and can understand really well how learning is from their point of view which often makes me a very in-tune and versatile teacher.  I have been often told from many students that i am extremely patient, encouraging and passionate, which is what they appreciate the most.

METHODS USED

My method is to incorporate proper technique and fingering, and though reading music is important, i also put emphasis on hearing what your playing and also understanding it theoretically.  This way students will be well-rounded and be able to understand what they are playing from an audio and theoretical stance, rather than just being told what to play by the notes on the sheet music.  What this does is it allows the student to become independent so that they don't have to rely on music and a teacher to be able to play or pick-up songs they desire to play.  I want them to be able to ultimately teach themselves and understand music in a way that they can apply it to any style or song in the future.

LESSON STYLE

I am very encouraging and patient as a teacher, i understand how learning is when your trying to get over the hurdles.  My compassion allows me to put myself in the students shoes, which makes me a better teacher.  I like to encourage the student to listen to artists and incorporate musical philosophy to inspire the student to play and achieve and experiment.  I think being curious is a musician's best friend, it creates the drive to want to learn more.  Whether the student is a theoretical, visual or aural learner, I teach according to the student's strengths, but also spend a bit of time on their weaknesses so that they become well rounded.  All of this is done by setting up small goals and taking it step by step in a cumulative manner.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
