I recently finished my studies to receive my Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy degree from Sam Houston State University. At SHSU I gained experience working with a variety of clientele including those diagnosed with autism, dementia, traumatic brain injury (TBI), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and spina bifida. I also provided live percussion music with the Creative Movement Program with the dance department at Sam Houston State University. I hope that in the near future I can own my own private studio where I can host music lessons and music therapy sessions. Read More

I will work with any materials my students bring to their lessons. I am familiar with many different series of method books (Faber, Bastien, Piano Town, Thompson, etc.), but will determine what the student needs based on their age and how much they know about music in general. Some school-aged children may have been exposed to music classes before they come to me. I am happy to hear about any school district that has chosen not to cut music education from its curriculum! My teaching experience dates back about 20 years. Since then, I’ve taught many levels and many instruments. I’ve taught students ranging from 18 months to 81 years old. I’ve taught many styles;including jazz, pop, and rock. I’ve had students to make videos and win several competitions. My favorite genre to teach is classical. With classical, you can pull all of the other genres out of it. When you learn classical first, everything else seems to fall into place. Read More

I moved to the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts in early 2015 and relocated back to Dallas/Ft. Worth in late 2017. For the past several years, I've been blessed with the opportunity to perform across the country and beyond, to facilitate interactive music workshops, to teach private lessons, and to provide original music and sound design for documentaries, films, animations, and more. In 2014, I initiated my solo project Starseed, featuring original electronic compositions infused with guitar and vocals. Read More

In order to succeed at the keyboard, a student's technique must be ahead of their literature. This is why I use a well-developed system of technical exercises that are easy to understand and implement that allows the student to quickly gain mastery of the instrument. These techniques were thoroughly developed and taught by my mentor, Dr. Jill Sprenger, and I have seen students of all types succeed with them. I also use a self-paced program of theory skills and ear-training exercises that complement the wide variety of literature that excites each student. Read More

I had the experience of administrating a music program where students got to sit in a session with their favorite artists. We shared songs and would critique performances. It was a lot of fun and I carry that same energy into lessons! I bring portable studio equipment and encourage students to complete whole works. Taking from the full range of music through history can give students a large perspective to pull from when interpreting, writing or performing music. Read More
