I believe that while there are certain immutable principles to how the voice functions, these principles need to be tailored to the particular instrument each student has as well as their nature, and how they wish to express themselves musically. I supplement this work with flash-cards to help with note recognition, sight-singing to aid understanding of how bass and treble complement each other. I also use composition to help students develop ownership of the skills they're acquiring. Nothing says "I know how to do this" like writing your own song. Prior to enrolling in a music school, I developed an unexpected interest in teaching. Assisting struggling peers brought self awareness and inevitably made me, as well as the overall group better, allowing me to understand a connection between music performance and education. I was awarded as Best Musical Actress by HOLA 2020 in the production of El Barbero de Sevilla with New Camerata Opera in the role of Elena. In April 2020 I was to make my debut as Frasquita in Carmen at Rose Theater at Lincoln Center with MasterVoices which was canceled due to COVID19. At Opera Tampa I had my debut singing the title role in Maestro Anton Coppola's Lady Swanwhite, a world premiere. Read More
