Hi! My name is Willa, and I've been teaching music for twelve years! I began learning piano at age four, and it became a deeper and deeper passion as the years passed. I dedicated myself to my craft and went on to become a Perry & Walters Music Foundation Scholar, attending Harding University and graduating Cum Laude with my BA in Music (emphasis in piano). I typically perform an assessment with every individual during the first lesson. Depending on goals, I will recommend curriculum to achieve the desired results. If a classical approach is desired, I use the Alfred's Basic Piano series and the Hal Leonard method for guitar, along with scale and chord theory literature depending on the level of the student. I also teach jazz/pop accompaniment style improv playing so I print music out from various sources. Read More

Jake has been playing guitar and percussion for over 20 years. He teaches all levels of guitar and congas, as well as beginning piano, voice and drum set. He went to Berkeley High School where he played guitar in the BHS Jazz Ensemble. He then attended the New School in New York City, majoring in jazz guitar studies. I love teaching, learning, and singing, but sometimes doing the things we love can still affect our nerves! I start first from a grounding and emotional center where we learn to access our own joy and take up our own space. From that point forward, we sing our hearts out! We will learn that vocal techniques that start out feeling tricky can become easier by incorporating mindfulness and full-body movement, and we master some techniques that are most relevant to your style of singing.
