As I have taught for many years, I feel encouraged and motivated when I can pass along my love for music. I have privately taught students from ages five to 56. Since I recently came out of college, I have about one year of experience teaching students part time. I also have experience teaching groups of elementary school students the violin. I encourage students to practice a certain number of hours every day according to his or her playing level. For beginning students, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, Suzuki, and easy scales. Once the student has progressed and appears to grasp the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce etudes and solo pieces. I also teach students elementary music theory related to the pieces they are learning. For advanced students, I focus more on their technique and performance. As I mentioned above, having this balance between having fun, enyoing and learning how to be responsible and dedicated, is healthy and efficient! Important is to understand that to learn an instrument, you also need to practice, at least 30 min per day and not just only wanting to have the lesson, because the progress will be very minimal and slow, and the learning process will become very boring.
