I typically start violinists with the Suzuki method books and I start my piano and guitar students with the Alfred and Essential Elements books. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp on fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first performance. However, if a student isn't learning effectively from the book they were originally given, I either change the method book or compose my own exercises that I think the student would benefit from. When I think of music, I always think of the quote: "Where words fail, music speaks," by Hans Christian Anderson. When I am teaching, nothing means more to me than seeing one of my students who was shy and not confident with themselves grow into a confident and enthusiastic person, both with music and in their life. I believe it's important to make sure this happens by recognizing and acknowledging that every student progresses at their own pace, has different needs, and has a different personality. Read More

It is a great joy a honor to share the musical gifts and experiences I have cultivated since childhood. Indeed, music is a way to retain some essence of the best of life. I've enjoyed teaching piano, violin and viola students, for the past seventeen years! And what I've generally found is, that it's not how long you practice, but how well. I feel that a student needs to be taught how to practice! I travel around Westchester NY and in addition to teaching the instrument, I encourage students to compose their own original pieces. I am a published composer and many of my music videos can be seen on You Tube. Read More

For all of my students, I let them pick a song (vocal) or piece (violin) that they would like to sing or play. This way I can analyze what level they are on. For my voice students, I start with vocal warm-up exercises of the different vowels. It helps me to understand their range as well as tone of voice. For my violin students, I usually stick with the Suzuki Method, or Essential Elements books, if they are in the more beginning stages. Read More

I try to create a unique and individualized lesson methods and plans. I try to personalize my lessons in a way that best suits a student's personality. Not everyone learns in the same manner.
