For beginning students who are children, I usually would like to encourage them starts to play with little simple songs, likes many of songs they already can singing with. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

Also performing in concerts gives them goals to work for so I try to have my students to perform at some assisted living places and more several times a year and the more they perform usually the better they improve. It can be encouraging to see that others make mistakes too and that noone is perfect. I like students to learn how to read as soon as they can, but I honor the suzuki idea that it is good to learn to play the first few pieces by ear so listening does not get lost in learning to read. My teaching experience dates back about four years, when I started teaching private lessons after finishing my studies at the University of North Texas. I maintained a large studio while also freelancing in the Dallas area. After moving back to New England to attend Boston University, I began working with the Boston Youth Symphony as a teaching assistant. For the past three years, I have been mentoring the string players in BYSO's ensembles and helping them to develop effective rehearsal techniques. Read More

I encourage my students to set short-term and long-term goals for themselves to work toward accomplishing in our lessons. I also pay special attention to the goals and desires of the student's guardians to know what I do to help students reach their full potential. Teaching is all about problem solving in creative ways for me as a teacher. I am deeply committed to seeing others growth and develop their skills so that they become stronger and more confident musicians. Read More

I have been teaching for over five years, taking on students as young as 5 and as young as 65. ;) I have taught both privately, in duos, and in larger groups. My teaching experience has been very multi-faceted. For one student, I'll be teaching a Bach Minuet, and for the next it could be a Lord of The Rings excerpt! I like to emphasize the importance of practice and playing your instrument on a regular basis to accelerate progress. Read More

I am a flexible and patient teacher, and want to meet each individual student where they are currently at in their learning process. I celebrate all progress and goals with my students, and love seeing them grow as musicians! I aim to instill a love of music into my students, and want them to be able to gain joy from their playing. I like to talk to my students to get feedback on how they are feeling about the pieces and their progression to make sure that lessons are working the best that they can for both of us. Read More
