For beginning students, I typically start with basic elements of Music: scales, melody, harmony and rhythm, with the interactions of musical instrument, e.g Guitar. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first performance. I have been teaching private lessons professionally since I graduated from Berklee in 2006. Prior to college, I tutored younger students for 4 years in my school's strings program for volunteer credit. Many of my students perform in auditioned orchestras and ensembles, including those for college! I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more.
