I am a freelancing violinist here in MA. I got my bachelor's degree in music performance from Boston University. I have played with some excellent orchestras in New England and eastern USA. I'm a member of the AFM local 9~535, and still perform and get gigs with some excellent orchestras.i have a nonprofit organization the Charles River Sinfonietta, that gives mostly chamber music concerts. I don't have prior teaching experience, but in the 10 years that i took lessons, I can tell you how important it is to have a teacher that understands the needs and skill level of the student. And i quote from a teacher that i had when i was a kid, "It takes 5 years to sound bad on the violin". I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. My teaching style is very flexible for many reasons. Each student progresses at their own pace along with possibly participating in ensembles such as their school orchestra, All-State auditions, and more. I take all of these into consideration to create realistic goals for the students.
