I have consistently been teaching students in my home for the past 7 years and never want to stop! My goal with each student is to teach the fundamentals of the violin/viola, and especially how to practice in an organized way. I want my students to gain their own love for the instrument and be inspired daily by music. My students are required to practice daily and perform often. Much of my approach to teaching is determined by the individual student. I want my students to be the best musicians they can be, and that does require a certain amount of pressure. To the extent that I can for each, I push my students to progress quickly. It can get boring to practice the same piece over and over without variation, so practicing is required. When first taking private viola lessons I studied Wohfahrt Etudes. Playing 1-2 level appropriate pieces is a great amount. Repertoire from the Suzuki books are fundamental stepping stones into becoming a better musician. I always enjoyed when I got to play a piece that I chose out myself, so I want to allow my students to find a piece of music on their own that they would love to play. Read More

I began teaching lessons at age 14 to young neighborhood beginners. As I progressed through the years, I expanded my range of student ability from beginner to upper intermediate, and from ages 6 to... well, older than me and I'm now 60! I have taught hundreds of students and enjoyed every one of them.
