In High School, my music practice skills carried over to my academic studies and I was able to graduate with Honors, a 4.00, and earn 14 scholarships to attend college to become a musicteacher. During this period I was also a professor of violin and conductor of the Chamber and Symphony orchestra at the Kishinev State Conservatory. Since 1992 I have been involved with the Southeastern Louisiana University as a Professor of violin and director of SLU Chamber Orchestra. For beginning students on violin we start with many techniques found in the Suzuki method. From there, we jump into different styles of music while still focusing on developing solid technical foundations for the student. Once we move into standard repertoire the lessons begin to change based on what the student needs. I am a firm believer in consistent practice. I would much rather have a student who practices daily for 15 minutes then a student who does not practice except for the day before their lesson for two hours. Read More
