I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2019, I graduated from Cornell College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance and Kinesiology Exercise-Science. Performing in different states and islands has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play on the same stage as Chaka Khan, learning from instructors Itzhak Perlman and the Catalyst Quartet. I have played violin since I was in 3rd grade. I got a cello and played that in middle school, as well as violin. In 8th grade, I auditioned for and joined the high school orchestra. I was also a member of the Gulf Coast Youth Orchestra. I have often attended various universities (I hold 3 degrees), and worked many different types of jobs, but through all of this I still enjoyed teaching violin on the side. Read More

I teach the basics first. I show my student how to hold the bow and the violin in detail. I explain that it will be awkward to hold the bow in correct position because it is unusual for person to hold the right hand that way. After several days of practice, this bow hold will become more natural to the student. Holding the violin in the proper position is also important in order to be able to play music. Read More

In the first class I like to know if the student has any knowledge in music and what made them want to learn the instrument. If they have some knowledge I like to see what they know so I can determine an appropriate path base on what they already know. If the student has no knowledge I start with the basics like recognizing the instrument's parts, the name of the notes, the name of the instrument's strings. Read More

For adults, I would still use Essential Elements because it does help with reading music, basic violin technique, bow hold, etc. Suzuki is a must because Suzuki is the best! I learned all of the books, and Suzuki's learning methods helps so much! As time progresses, solo repertoire will be introduced and the student will begin learning from Wohlfahrt etude book. Remember, with anything great it takes time. Practice makes PROGRESS! Read More

There is no need to slug away for months at a solo or exercise that doesnt match your personal interests or learning style. Playing should be stimulating and fun, and I am passionate about finding different ways to make learning music appealing to all sorts of people, whatever your musical needs are. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated teacher who loves performing, working with students, and sharing my love of music with others. I believe music is a gift that should be shared. I began playing violin 19 years ago and have played actively since. I began college in 2007 and studied music for a year before completing a degree in biology. However, I recently started studying music again at Berklee college of music and I am working on completion of my music degree. Read More
