Every new student comes to their first lesson with particular skills and musical interests. My job is to assess the students abilities and lead them down the appropriate paths to achieving their musical goals. For my students learning guitar, bass guitar or ukulele, I recommend the Hal Leonard Series. Depending on the age and level of the student, there are a number of options to pick from, which allows me to get just the right fit! Along with the method book, I recommend what's called a blank TAB book which is used to write down chords, exercises and songs. For those that aren't necessarily interested in going down that road, that's ok! In the end it's about what is fulfilling to you. Small assignments are expected to be completed weekly, so that the child feels a sense of accomplishment and progress.
