Teaching for me means to be constantly creative and flexible about gauging expectations and output, adjusting methods according to the students' ability to respond, and discovering new paths that are often dictated by the students themselves. I try to remain open-minded about the ways that musical goals can be achieved, rather than getting locked up in a routine that might have been successful before. For beginner students who are children, I typically start with Suzuki violin book. My goal is try to find the balance between fun and progress. I will give them fun book after they learn the fundamentals. After that, I would like to ask and help them to prepare their first performance. For adults, I will find out what is the music goal of them, and set a clear plan every week and make it step by step to improve themselves. Read More

I started playing the violin when i was 5 years old, I went to Hamilton Country Day School in Attleboro MA as a child where violin was part of the curriculum. I was lucky enough to be the Concert master in the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in the Prep Strings section when i was 10 years old. I don't have prior experience teaching students, but i have almost 20 years of experience playing, and look forward to sharing what knowledge, and passion for music i have with students of all ages. For children my teaching style is very reward based, I love stickers so always give them one once they've mastered their song for the week and such. Lots of encouragement and positive feedback and working through the difficult things in a positive manner. For adults I will teach based on you! I find joy in helping students achieve their goals. I always aim for high quality, but also make the process fun. If the goal is to sound professional, I make sure we spend a good amount of time working on scales, etudes, and learning the essential classical music like the Bach six Sonatas and Partitas. I like the Galamian violin playing methods, and find them very effective to teach. I do this with almost all levels of students, as it solidifies the technical skills of a performer, allowing them to express themselves musically. Read More
