I encourage daily practice, as this gives students a chance to become comfortable with the violin much more quickly, and I make listening to music a part of each students normal routine so they can strengthen their desire to learn. With the youngest students I start with the fundamentals such as naming the different parts of the instrument and some basic rules with notes.
