My studies have brought me from Bostons New England Conservatory to Europe to Los Angeles to New Yorks own Juilliard School. I have created a curriculum which is comprised of the Suzuki series for Violin, the String Builder Series by Samuel Applebaum; the Introducing the Positions-Volumes I & 2 and Scale studies by Harvey S. Whistler. Music theory is taught using the Master Theory Series by Charles S.Peters and Paul Yoder. Additional Etudes that focus on Bowings, and Double Stops are taught to the more advanced student. For beginning piano students who are children, I usually start with John Thompson's "Teaching Little Fingers To Play."  Once the student has progressed and becomes more familiar with reading the notes in both clefs, I will begin to introduce solo pieces of music that the child picks out of the choices I present to them.  I do this to help encourage and reward the child with their success.  For adult piano students, I find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly. I believe in the importance of holistic music pedagogy for students at every level. Musicianship requires technical proficiency, music theory training, music history study, and creativity. I prefer to craft unique courses of study for each of my students rather than using popular, one-size-fits-all approaches, such as the Suzuki Method. Though many of these methods have valuable pedagogical insights, I hope my students can have a deep engagement with music, art and creativity that goes beyond technical mastery, a goal that requires a greater flexibility than such methods provide. My teaching experience dates back to my college days ,as I began teaching in professional music school full time 28 years ago and have been consistently teaching students in my home for the last 15 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key point .I like to emphasize for younger students ,as it tends to help student progress and gain passion for the instrument.
