I take the great things about the Suzuki Method and use them (fun, creativity, by-ear learning, group jams). Then I take the things I don't like about the method and disregard them (pre-established repetoire, no composition or improv). I started playing violin when I was 7. I've been with Musika since 2011 (while I was in college). I have experience teaching Suzuki method (violin) from young age kids to old students. I also have been teaching Suzuki Method (K-12) strings at a local arts school and also at a Korean community center. I am currently teaching music subject at school as well. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern pop music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the violin and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

My past students would probably say I am overall a nice guy but incredibly picky when it comes to perfecting a piece and hold each of my students to a very high standard. Beginning violin is important. I use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements to help teach the functionality and basic building blocks of playing the violin. Moving forward, the best introduction into violin music itself is the Suzuki Violin School volume set. Each book helps students through various levels during their beginner phase. These pieces not only serve as educational material but also as solo repertoire for beginners in recitals.
