Playing an instrument is almost like training for an athletic sport; it is important that the body is properly engaged safely in order to produce a beautiful sound and prevent injury. Injury has been a concern amongst string players, and tension tends to develop in the body in ways we don't even realize until something goes wrong. With this in mind as well as my teaching method, I encourage my students to develop an awareness of the body as well as good thinking processes to ensure that they have a healthy perspective on their own progress and relieve any tension that could possibly manifest in the body. I began playing the piano when I was 5 and started with the Suzuki method on violin when I was 7. I went to a performing arts high school where I played in orchestras, chamber ensembles, and had theory classes half the day, and regular classes the other half. I also took lessons from Frank Huang, the current concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. I received my BM from the University of Texas at Austin in 2017 where I studied with Sandy Yamamoto, and I received my MM from DePaul University in 2019 studying with Janet Sung. Read More

My first teaching experience dates back to High School when I had the opportunity to coach elementary orchestra students. As a student at University of Colorado at Boulder and DePaul University, I completed String Pedagogy courses which covered all the different elements of teaching from how to manage a private studio to instructing your students. Currently, I teach a group of ten kindergartners at Skinner West Elementary School. This has been the most rewarding and challenging part of my teaching career thus far. Read More
