I encourage students to progress in their skills/techniques/musical knowledge at their own pace. I hope to pass on my passion and love for music onto my students by setting realistic goals catered to each student, starting with their very first lesson. Studied with world renowned distinguished professor Janos Starker and received Master of Music degree in 1984 from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana. I was a member of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and a doctoral candidate at the University of Memphis. I worked with South Dakota Symphony, Tupelo Symphony and North Carolina Symphony. I become assistant principal cellist in the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra in 1987 and I joined faculty member at the University of Mississippi in 1988. Read More

The methods use for young children are the series of Sassmannshaus books. Piatti for adults. All for strings and essential elements books for violin and viola., among other methods books. I also use innovative methods to teach all instruments. I encourage my students to select their own repertoire. It is also encourage to perform at least 3 times a year in recitals. I started teaching while I was in college. There is this program at my university that allows music majors to teach private lessons and after school programs. Since I was interested in pursuing a career in music education, this was the perfect learning opportunity for me. This is where I really found that I love teaching private lessons. I love seeing my students grow, especially when they were having a hard time grasping a certain concept. Read More
