I am as passionate about creating and performing music as I am about teaching music to others. I have worked with professionals and my own students to create compositions that have been published to television and film, and I have coached students who now perform worldwide. My favorite thing about teaching is helping my students connect to music for the first time and watching that passion grow. As an audio engineer and producer, I can coach students in music and also the music industry. Read More

After teaching for so many years and after taking lessons myself for most of my life, I know very well that everyone has their own way of learning and growth that happens over time. I like to make things fun by incorporating music that the student is interested in, such as fiddle and Disney songs in addition to the classical repertoire and solid technical foundation that helps playing become easy and enjoyable! My teaching experience started when I was in high school. A lot of children in my neighborhood wanted to learn violin and piano, I suddenly became the neighborhood teacher at just 17! After college I continued teaching privately. I have also taught in public and privet schools. My main passion in teaching is to help ANYONE who wants the gift of playing an instrument. What a thrill it is to see the smile on my students faces when they get on stage and enjoy playing their solo in a recital, or watching my students play in an orchestra. Read More

I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. For piano instruction, I prefer the Faber Piano Method Books, as they are tailored to the students' individual needs. Read More

I began teaching during high school as a supervised intern observing and teaching both small groups of orchestra students and private lessons. Since then, I've gained independence and have taught students in a variety of settings, both individual and group, and to ages ranging from young beginner to adults. Self growth and striving for self improvement is an important tenet of my teaching, and I encourage it in both my students and myself. Read More

For my string students I teach music theory only if requested, as many don't have access to pianos/keyboards at home so they can understand harmony, chord progressions etc. Without a keyboard understanding harmonic progressions can be very challenging. Experience has taught me that the joy of music comes only to those who get a solid foundation and knowledge. Many students begin with great enthusiasm, only to get frustrated after a while when they find themselves stuck year after year with beginner level music. Read More
