I am a professional violinist and instructor with experience teaching students of all ages. I graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit in 2014 completing my Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Violin Performance. During my education, I was selected to be a String Project Instructor, a 4 year teaching internship for violin and orchestra classes. At Richland, I was the lead instructor in the areas of string performance and music theory, as well as director of the Richland String Orchestra and the Richland Chamber Strings. Highlights of my performing career have included performances of the Kabalevsky and Shostakovich concertos with the Clear Lake Symphony, the Fort Bend Symphony, and the Houston Youth Symphony. I served as principal cellist of the Henry Mancini Festival Orchestra, performed live with the Danielle Georgiou Dance Group, recorded with the hard rock band Our Last Night (check out the music video below!), and played for several years as part of a Persian-Flamenco fusion band. I employ a very eclectic, rotating repetoire. For beginning violin students, I use the Suzuki method of ear-training, however I am not married to that curriculum. I prefer to use beginning Suzuki materials in tandem with standard American folk and pop music, in accordance to the student's interests. While in college I played professionally in the Des Moines Symphony and was the winner of the Young Artist Contest which afforded me the privilege of featured soloist with the Drake Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Li directed the musical The Wiz at the Tugaloos college of Mississippi and directed the Tchaikovskys Nutcracker Ballet at Madison Cultural Center in Mississippi. Since I moved to California in 2002, I focused on music education; I was director of Waltrips Yamaha Music School, and later a director of the music program and a faculty member at the Arroyo Pacific Academy. In recent years, I have organized and conducted student string ensembles and school choirs to perform for different local venues, including school events, senior community centers, and Christmas concerts or other holiday occasions.
