I see the participation in playing musical instruments as much of a fun activity as it is a physical and mental workout. After receiving my Associate in Science in Music I went straight into a studio and started teaching a range of students from 4 - 24 years old, and from the never-picked-up-an-instrument-before to I-can't-wait-for-the-competition levels. I like teaching and performing music. There is nothing better than when I learn to play the piece well. Also-when I teach the beginning student-it is great to see how that student develops his/her playing over the days/weeks/months. It is good to have constant attention of the teacher because of learning to play the pieces in correct way is very important. For adults, I would still use Essential Elements because it does help with reading music, basic violin technique, bow hold, etc. Suzuki is a must because Suzuki is the best! I learned all of the books, and Suzuki's learning methods helps so much! As time progresses, solo repertoire will be introduced and the student will begin learning from Wohlfahrt etude book.
